Mayhem Brawler looks so much like Streets of Rage 4 it's not even funny

Don't adjust your screens - this isn't a trailer for Streets of Rage 4. It's Mayhem Brawler, a game that bears more than a fleeting resemblance to the beloved beat-'em-up of Dotemu. Especially in terms of artistic style, this thing is incredibly similar; when we first saw a screenshot of the game we were totally fooled until we got a closer look.

So what's the deal for this game? Mayhem Brawler is more or less what you'd expect - it's a side-scrolling beat-'em-up inspired by '90s classics, featuring a local co-op and, yes, an art style that screams SoR4. However, he has his own take on things. You take on the role of overpowered law enforcement officers bringing justice to Mayhem City, fighting off all manner of henchmen and fantastic creatures. More importantly, the game will have three endings and the campaign will have branching paths through the choices you make, and those decisions will affect the outcome.

Honestly, it doesn't sound too shabby, but it's just begging to be compared to Streets of Rage 4 with this comic book presentation. Hopefully, it can stand on its own when it hits PlayStation 4 on August 19. Are you going to take a look at Mayhem Brawler? Discuss in the comments section below.
